Preparaos para un emocionante viaje al futuro de la humanidad, a un planeta lejano en el que la vida es dura y morir resulta fácil. Un mundo en el que los comisarios GEO defienden la paz y los mercenarios patrullan las profundidades oceánicas en letales cazas submarinos. Un lugar en el que la codicia mercantil y la desesperación humana hacen estragos en una ecología alienígena y amenazan con empujar a la humanidad a una guerra contra un legado ancestral.
Bienvenido al mundo de Planeta Azul.
Con esta introduccion empieza Planeta Azul juego de rol, del cual se han traducido dos libros al castellano, el Manual de Juego (libro basico) y la Guia del Moderador, siendo ambos productos muy interesantes en cuanto a ambientacion y mecanica de juego... aunque La Factoria los saco al mercado español con tapas blandas (en Ingles venian con una encuadernacion estupenda y tapas duras).
El juego tiene algunas novedades que espantaran a los jugadores mas tradicionalistas (delfines con implantes, por ejemplo), pero todos los productos novedosos corren ese riesgo. Las novedades del juego compensan de sobra las faltas para terminar equilibrando un producto interesante.

No hay elfos ni orcos, ni siquieras viajes mas rapidos que la luz o estrellas de la muerte: El juego tiene una escrupulosa ambientacion "hard" que hara las delicicias de los puristas del genero, el juego es mas hard aun que Cyberpunk, por hacer una comparacion. Existen algunas "razas" de juego, que son en realidad mejoras geneticas del ser humano. Asi, podemos encontrar Acuamorfos (especializacion genetica-subacuatica), Hibridos (primer intento de crear supersoldados mediente hibridacion humana-animal, en el momento del juego ya algo desfasada tecnologicamente hablando), Alfas (el super hombre de Nitche si eres lo bastante rico para permitirtelo), Espaciales (especializacion genetica para el trabajo en 0G)... y los siempre controvertidos Cetaceos: Delfines y Orcas geneticamente modificados para "ampliar" su inteligencia desde el punto de vista humano (en realidad "modificados" para acercar su forma de pensar a los estandares humanos).
Sobre los Cetaceos me siento obligado a hacer un apunte importante... este es un juego Ci-Fi entre el Hard y el Cyberpunk, y tras años de arbitraje de este juego, he de decir que son 100% compatibles con el juego y la ambientacion. Totalmente plausibles y practicos en grupos compuestos por humanos y cetaceos, e incluso (gracias a la potente tecnologia de sondas y drones) en partidas que se desarrollen casi completamente en tierra firme (o el espacio). Aunque no exentos de algunas dificultades, ningun master que se precie deberia vetarlos de una partida de Planeta Azul (aunque yo como Master pongo el limite de 1 jugador cetaceo por grupo, para no desequilibrar el juego demasiado).

Despues de 80 años, una Tierra unificada bajo un gobierno planetario llamado GEO manda otra nave hacia el planeta alienigena, para encontrarse que los primeros colonos no solo sobrevivieron, sino que se han multiplicado y extendido por el planeta, adoptando una forma de vida similar a la de los aborigenes del pacifico. Asi que 35 años despues del Reencuentro, la sociedad de Poseidon esta dividida entre "nativos" tecnologicamente poco desarrollados, adaptados a la vida del planeta y "recien llegados" venidos de la tierra que traen maquinas e industria (y contaminacion).

El sistema de daño es bastante original: Hay cuatro grados de heridas: rasguño, leve, grave y mortal (no hay puntos de vida ni localizaciones). Tiras 3d10 y vas mirando cuantos "exitos" sacas contra una dificultad calculada por tu armadura y el daño basico del arma, cuanto mas alta sea la dificultad mas daño te estan haciendo y es mas probable es que acabes echo carne picada. De 0 a 3 exitos posibles da un grado de herida de rasguño a mortal, asi que es totalmente posible matar a alguien con un puñetazo. El sistema se desmadra con armas que tienen de daño basico un 18 (a superar con un dado de 10), asi que es mejor no sacar cosas tan bestias porque el sistema patina con eso (habria que revisarlo).
Si teneis ocasion de jugarlo os aconsejo usar la regla de que cualquier 10 en una tirada es un "fracaso en herir" del arma por mucho daño que te hagan, y por tanto la herida baja su potencia, asi tendras una minima posibilidad de sobrevivir a daños superiores a 10.

Lo mejor de toda la mecanica es la generacion del personaje: Es un sistema donde prima mas la conceptualizacion y la idea de personaje que quieres llevar que los numeros asignados a atributos o habilidades: Es un sistema que encuentro muy adecuado para adaptarlo a otros juegos. Es largo de explicar pero a grandes rasgos el jugador elige "opciones de historial" (en que ambiente se ha criado, en que ha trabajado hasta ahora) para su personaje y segun las opciones elegidas las habilidades salen altas en unas cosas o bajas en otras.
Siendo un sistema sencillo (te haces un pj en 10 minutos o menos) tiene una variedad practicamente infinita de personajes posibles con una profundidad de background bastante alta para ser un personaje recien creado.

Este juego, creado por Biohazard Games, dispone de una primera y una segunda edicion, y tambien dispone, bajo licencia de cesión -que ya finalizo-, de una edicion revisada editada por FASA, asi como de una version con el sistema GURPS. Incluso se desarrollo una edicion para Savage Worlds que nunca se llego a editar...
